Thanks

Thanks to all of the parents who read along with their son or daughter. I hope you found Into the Wild an enjoyable read. If you have any feedback for me about things I could do to make the read along more enjoyable or ideas that you have...I would love to hear them. I want to make these experiences enjoyable for you and your students. Feel free to email me at rothert@district112.org.

Our next book is Of Mice and Men. We will be reading it pretty quickly (it is short). You may want to work on getting your copy of it. There should be tons of copies at the library.

Thanks again! Feel free to post your final thoughts on the blog!

Email from parent

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the book. I finished it a while ago. I had trouble putting it down. I just found the whole thing fascinating. Interesting perspectives from all the people in the book whose lives were connected in one way or another.

Thank you for sharing that selection with us.

Makes a little more sense??

Okay, after reading through Chapter 16 I am no longer convinced that Chris had a death wish; however, I do believe he was foolish and naive. Krakauer is able to help readers understand Chris better since he can relate to him through shared personality traits...something I don't think just any writer could have done. It seems the relationships that both the author and Chris had with their fathers had a strong impact on the lives of both young men, making them fiercely determined to prove their independence at any cost.

Week of December 7th

Hello Readers!
We are in the home stretch now! For those who have kept up, good work! For those that have some catching up to do, no worries...

We will be finishing the book this week/weekend and then we will spend up until Winter Break recapping and concluding (so you have some time to get it done.)

As you finish the book, what are your final thoughts? Have you opinions of Chris McCandless changed?

Good Luck and Happy Reading!
